Hack Your Bills With These 3 Handy Tips

When the last week of the month approaches, we all get excited, because it means money in the bank. For many of us, it also means it’s time to take care of a few bills.

So how do you make sure your bills are paid on time and on budget?

Here are a few tips:

  1. Draw up your budget:

When the end of the month is approaching, draw up the next month's budget and include the monetary allocation for all your bills and due dates. Most billers send reminders two to five days before the bill is due. Make note of it and add it to your budget. Don’t forget to add processing charges. Mobile money providers and bank apps charge a small fee to process your bill payment so note that down too.

  1. Pay them all on the same day at the same time

Where possible, pay all your bills on the same day. Sit down with a pen and paper or your excel sheet and pay them all at the same time. This ensures that you don’t forget to pay any of them only to have to pay up in the middle of the month when funds are a little low.

  1. Set up reminders

Where your biller doesn’t send reminders, or your due date falls on some obscure day in the middle of the month, it is important to set up a reminder to help you keep track of the bill. Ideally, the reminder should be a day or two before the due date so that you have plenty of time to pay and avoid disconnection.

This includes mobile money and your Visa, MasterCard or American Express card. That’s right, you can use your bank debit card to pay your bills securely with us.
